“Life is measured in Heartbeats and not in minutes.”
World Heart Day is the
World Heart Federation's biggest platform for raising awareness of
cardiovascular disease (CVD) and is celebrated every year on 29 September. This
year the campaign on World Heart Day is to create a global community of Heart
Heroes and the aim is to inspire, educate and motivate people to keep their
hearts healthy and encourage them to act as self-motivators. The initiative was
founded in the year 2000 to inform people to take care of their heart and
themselves. One of the leading causes of death in the world is heart problems and
a major population of the world is suffering from different heart diseases like
heart failure, stroke.
World Heart Day is
celebrated globally to reduce the number of cardiovascular diseases thereby
reducing the death rates all over the world. As per the World Health
Organization, CVD is the reason for about 40% deaths over the globe. The most
dangerous risk factors for heart disease are bad cholesterol, heart disease,
smoking habit & increased weight. World Health Organization in
collaboration with the World Heart Federation spreads all the necessary
information about heart disease and various risk factors.
World Heart Day aims in
motivating people to go for regular heart check-ups and follow all control
measures through life. It can be considered to be the day when people promise
to quit smoking, eat healthily, get involved in daily physical activity to keep
their heart in good shape. On World Heart Day people also become aware that
different factors like unhealthy diets, bad lifestyle are the causes of heart
diseases. World heart Day hope to the people suffering from heart disease and
ensures them that heart problems can be prevented and can be put under control.
The objective of World
Heart Day is to improve the heart health of individuals globally and motive
people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and gain knowledge about ways to deal with
heart problems. The World Health Organization has made a target to reduce the
mortality rate by 2025 thereby focusing on premature deaths causes for the same
being cardiovascular diseases. World
Heart Day is celebrated globally every year by organizing activities and events
related to heart health. This campaign aims to encourage people for
