Of these, the elderly people having age 60 years and up were found to be most vulnerable. In this article, we shall focus on measures to protect senior citizens from the Coronavirusoutbreak. 

How to protect senior citizens from coronavirus outbreak?

The World Health Organization has already identified that themaximum numbers of Covid-19 positive patients are elderly citizens (Near about 60% of coronavirus affected peoples are more than 60 years). As per medical experts, people above 60 years of age are most vulnerable to various illnesses like walking pneumonia and influenza symptoms.
According to the WHO report, the prevention of anattack of Coronavirus is more important than cure. Here are some measures which should be implemented to protect senior citizens from coronavirus outbreak.

  1. Maintain proper hygiene guideline provided by WHO

The World Health Organization declared a handful of hygiene guidelines to prevent the attack of Coronavirus amongthe elderly.
      Do not allow the elderly member of your house to visit near people who are suffering from this pandemic disease.
      Always maintain a distance near about one meter between two people. It could be a maximum of two to three-step gapping.
      Do not shake your bare hands with elderly people while visiting them.
      Cover your mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing. Try to wear N-98 musk to prevent the attack of Covid-19.
      Wash your hand with soap at least every 3 hours. Positively insist a senior citizen disinfect his/her hand with a hand-sanitizer before eating something.

  1. Medical check-up

Self-monitoring is the first step to become healthy and prevent the attack of coronavirus. If you are an elderly citizen and find yourself with lots of symptoms like high fever, coughing, sneezing, breathing problem, and influenza symptoms, immediately contact the healthcare clinic.
Initially, you need to go under influenza treatment because there is no vaccine for coronavirus. For elders it is recommended to consult your doctor immediately to treat influenza infection. At times your health consultant may advise you to opt for the influenza vaccine, injection or even walking pneumonia treatment. The latter treatment requires ample amount of rest, lots of fluids and healthy and nutritious food. You need to take the advice from doctors seriously and check up your health regularly.

  1. Respect  Government rules

The government already declared some essential rules and regulations during this crucial period. You need to follow these following rules carefully:

       Always maintain social distances and avoid crowded areas as much as possible.
       Strictly avoid international and domestic time at this crucial time.
       During the outbreak of Coronavirus, all elderly citizens are requested to stay home until it is necessary to visit outside of your home.
       Only Quarantine can break the chain of virus attacks.
       While visiting a health clinic or market, always keep two to three-meter distance from sick people and wash your hands after entering your house.

  1. Be prepared! Don’t panic

The World Health Organization and governments across the world are trying to provide their level of best services to prevent further attacks of Coronavirus. In this emergency, you are requested to not create any panic. The anxiety and hypertension rate of elderly people is always higher than the younger ones. Panic and rumours may create a negative impact on their health.
